Dear praying friends:
As I write this letter, my heart is heavy because my mother (Mike) has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She has never smoked in her life but still developed it. We are back in IL right now to be with her and my dad and to find out next week the particular kind of cancer and what stage it is in. Please pray for her that the Lord’s will be done concerning this situation.
We were able to finish a discipleship program with Shameen, the Muslim lady we wrote about in our last prayer letter. She has been growing in the Lord and faithfully attending church. She wanted to thank us for the time and effort that we put into her discipleship so she invited Teresa and me along with Pastor Lamb over to her house for dinner. We had curried chicken and all Indian food. She lives with her 82 year old father and takes care of him. We were able to share the gospel with him that evening, he was very polite to us but did not receive the Lord that night. Please pray for him to be saved. He is not in very good health.
In September we had “Back to Church Sunday” with a potluck lunch afterwards. We saw several people come to church who had not attended in a long time, and we also had a couple of first time visitors. One couple that received a flier on their door about a month ago and had been attending for a few weeks asked the pastor that day to come over and talk to them more about the church. Please pray for them that they will make Anchor Baptist their church home.
Teresa and I were able to attend the 10 year anniversary service of Horizon Baptist church in Camarillo, CA. What a blessing it was to see what the Lord has done there. We also were able to attend the one-year anniversary of Hillview Baptist church in Surprise AZ. The services were well attended and there was such a sweet spirit.
Please continue to pray for us and our ministry of helping to start and strengthen new churches here in America.
