Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as inspired word of God and inerrant in the original writings; and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
(II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21)
Autonomy of God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(I John 5:7; Genesis 3:22; Psalm 2:7,8; Psalm 110:1)
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary and is true God and true man.
(Isaiah 7:14; John 1:1, 14; John 8:58)
Creation
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and all who reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word and deed.
(Genesis 1:27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12)
The Gospel
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood and resurrection. (Romans 4:25; I Corinthians 15:3; II Corinthians 5:21; I John 1:7; Acts 13:39; I Peter 2:24)
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate.
(I Corinthians 15:4; Hebrews 4:14; I John 2:1)
A Personal Relationship
We believe in the blessed hope, the personal, premillenial, imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
(Titus 2:13; Philippians 3:20)
How To Get To Heaven
We believe that all who receive through faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again by the Spirit of God and thereby become the children of God.
(John 1:12; Acts 20:21)
A Holy Life
We believe in separation from all worldly practices and in whole-hearted devotion to the cause of Christ as the only scriptural basis for a happy and useful Christian life.
(I John 2:15-17; I Thessalonians 5:22)
The Second Coming
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, in the everlasting felicity of the saved, and the everlasting suffering of the lost.
(John 5:28, 29)
Baptism
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour; with its effect, our death to sin and resurrection to new life.
(Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12)
Communion
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a memorial service and is setting forth in a sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf. The emblems of the communion service are not literally the body and blood of Christ, nor do they contain His flesh and blood. The service is for baptized believers only, and to partake has value only as it is mingled with faith and repentance upon the part of the communicant.
(I Corinthians 11:26; Acts 2:41, 42)
Missions
We believe that the scriptural method of supporting the local and missionary interests of the church is by the exercise of stewardship on the part of God’s people. The tithe and the offering is the standard of God’s Word.
(Malachi 3:10; Matthew 23:23; I Corinthians 9:7; Deuteronomy 16:17)
