IT ALL STARTED WITH A BURDEN...
Christ commanded His children to go into all the world and preach the gospel, and in this day and age, it is easier than ever. The world lies wide open waiting for Christians to obey Christ and go. The simplicity of traveling internationally is ever before us. If one would so desire, he could travel to the opposite side of the globe in less than a day. With a little planning, he could be in a completely unreached tribe or village in just several days. This concept would have been inconceivable to men of God in the past like Adoniram Judson, David Livingstone, Hudson Taylor, William Carey and many more. Yet this is the open door that has been made available for my generation. We actually have the ability to go everywhere!
Jesus made several interesting statements regarding international evangelism of which I think we ought to consider the meaning.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus said that He would be with us even unto the end of the world; maybe we should just take God at His word and go even to the end of the world.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:8
The intent of God was that believers were to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and (literally) the uttermost part of the earth. If I were to believe in a literal, plenary, interpretation of scripture then it would necessitate that I believe these words ask for a literal interpretation. But there is one more passage that compels me even more.
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature…So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where…
Mark 16:15; 19-20a
Wow! Jesus told His followers to go into all the world and preach the gospel and then the book of Mark concludes with His disciples being obedient to Christ's command and went everywhere! Time would fail to discuss passages such as Romans 10:13-14; Acts 4:12; or Matthew 9:37-38 and many others that deal with evangelism.
The apostles and the early disciples went everywhere and preached the gospel (Mk. 16:20a) in obedience to their Lord's command. By God's grace, I intend to do the same. I have been approved by World Wide New Testament Baptist Mission as an associate missionary, which means that all the monies that come in via monthly support by churches or by a one-time love gift must be given through WWNTBM.
It is very simple. God has told us to go everywhere and preach the gospel. Now, more than ever, it is incredibly possible to do just that. Will you consider joining me in prayer as I endeavor to take the gospel everywhere? Would you pray with me and for me and even ask God if He would have you take the gospel everywhere?
Now, more than ever, we need God's people with great boldness to rise up with God's power and preach the gospel - everywhere!
